Drive - In Movie

After Pocahontas stayed over I awoke feeling disgusting but in need of a good adventure so for Halloween I went to a drive in movie in Glasgow and I thought I would share it with you.

Ed Sheeran Concert

Hey,
So for months now I have been listening to Ed Sheeran's new album "X" and have been loving it!

So of course I jumped at the chance to go to the concert when I found out that I wasn't too late to get a ticket for the Halloween concert. I asked Pocahontas if she wanted to go to the concert and of course she also jumped at the opportunity.

So fast forward 3 months of listening to his new album "X" and we were really excited about seeing him live but of course I had got us tickets for Halloween and other people I knew had tickets for the night before so I was unbelievably jealous as they had less time to wait!

So as I woke up on Halloween my Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Snapchat were filled with pictures and videos of the concert! I was sooo excited and my whole day was hearing about how amazing it was (and doing an essay, close reading and having a last minute homework crisis!).

So after school Pocahontas and I stayed late but when we EVENTUALLY left we grabbed her bags for the night and we drove to my house.

I started helping her unpacking her stuff then we started cooking dinner - pesto pasta and garlic bread. It was amazing but of course my breath was not the nicest so I had to have a few mints!

Then we started getting ready and I wore; a tank top, choker, skinny jeans, boots and a checked shirt.

So Pocahontas and I did the cliche makeup sharing best friend thing and by the time we looked FLAWLESS we jumped into the car and drove of into the sunset.

JKS we had to drive into the lovely Glasgow on Halloween, a Friday night. SCARY!

As we drove down the motorway with none other than Ed Sheeran blasting out of my phone I had to just absorb the atmosphere and the beauty that is - Glasgow at night. Every car that passed had different reasons to be out that night and every passenger had a story. Always remember that who ever you are YOU have touched someone right in the heart and made them feel special, even if you don't think so!

So as we got nearer the venue it became clear how many fans he has and it is weird to think that I was only one in a sea of people that night.

Before going into the venue I HAD to buy a X tour top! I love it!

The staff at the Hydro are super helpful at telling you where to go but I have to admit that I still managed to get lost because I have no sense of direction and I went up and down the stairs what seemed like 5 times before realising that I was right at the top and dead centre! AMAZING!

We arrived when the opening act had only 2 songs to go and there were hardly anyone but as soon as Ed walked on stage the place just became packed and the whole place was so lively. The music started and I got lost in every song as I screamed along with him.

Right now I'm even swaying as I play back some of the songs! It was brilliant.

Even with slow and sad songs he had the audience pouring out their hearts as they sang along!

I managed to lose track of time and didn't even realise that he was on his last song.

As he walked off the crowd demanded an encore and began to cheer until they were blue in the face.

He had to get changed (he was dressed for Halloween) but he casually strolled back on stage and we got what we asked for. The final song was beautiful - SING.

The crowd was told that they had to never stop singing this and I don't think I ever will, it is such a fun song!

The crowd became one and no one wanted it to ever stop as every stood. dancing and singing, pretending that time had stopped.

Of course he walked off but we didn't stop singing. As soon as everyone became quiet and we were leaving some would sing "SING" at the top of their voice and the cluster of people would start singing.

It was something I'll never forget, the crowd now feels like my extended family as we have a bond that is Ed Sheeran.

As we were in the car I began to realise what a brilliant night I had had but of course as it was Halloween so it wasn't over. Pocahontas and I ended the night drinking tea and watching Halloween films until the sun came up, only kidding I fell asleep at 3 in the morning because I'm a loser.

Lauren

Shopping Trip - Edinburgh

I love Autumn and I think that'll become clear over the next few days, but one of the places I think that makes Autumn even more special is Edinburgh.

After late night texting last night, my friend and I decided to get the train the next morning (today) and go into Edinburgh. The main intention was to shop but I think we both knew that we weren't going to spend a lot but were going to do a lot of walking about.

So after arriving early at the train station and bumping into my English teacher, I then had to wait for Pocahontas (she wants to remain anonymous!). Panic struck and I wasn't sure if she maybe thought that we were meant to go the day after, turns out she was just late! We ran and caught the train just in time. I was told that it was meant to be cold so I wrapped up warm but by the time we got  to Edinburgh the bitter chill in the air had disappeared and I was left boiling in my multiple layers.
I wore a H&M dress (can't find the link!), a pair of leggings as tights (to keep me warm), a woolly jumper from F&F at Tesco, a handbag from New Look, a tube scarf from H&M, black converse and a silver jacket. As some of my clothes are really old they aren't sold anymore!

We first started by walking about aimlessly and then decided that we should get an early lunch (Pocahontas had become too distracted by her TV to eat breakfast and I had only had a small breakfast). After debating while walking down multiple streets we decided to go to TGIFridays as Pocahontas had never been and I didn't believe it was too expensive. We arrived at 12 o'clock and it was reasonably quiet and got seated quickly. We quickly realised that it wasn't as cheap as I remebered it being and we began panicking (we are both trying to save up). In the end I ordered a Chicken Caesar Salad (it was only £10.99) and my friend ordered a Quesadilla  (also £10.99).
I loved the salad but Pocahontas wasn't too keen on her meal. The portions are huge, so she had some of mine, and the atmosphere is amazing. Would be amazing with a large group of friends!

We then began wandering and ended up in H&M, boots, superdrug etc. The shops weren't too busy as everyone was having lunch and there was a lot of summer sales (I feel another post coming on). We then began walking down Rose Street which is probably one of my favourite and there were many locals and tourists alike, including a group of teenagers from Colombia on an exchange programme. The atmosphere is amazing and I always feel like I'm in a different country. On our travels we found a lovely bakery, called Bibi's Bakery, where we both got a cupcake in a box!

My friend and I then went to Starbucks as she was wanting a white chocolate hot chocolate. It was super busy and they took our orders as soon as we walked in the door and then we would pay for them when we got to the till. They didn't have what my friend wanted, so she got a Vanilla Hot Chocolate and I ordered a Hazelnut Hot Chocolate. They were both "to go" and we headed to Princes Street Gardens. When we got there we sat on a bench and relaxed. Just people watching as tourists took photos, kids ran on the grass, couples held hands, and dogs sniffed the "wildlife". I had jokingly said that my name was Paula in Starbucks, which caused my friend to explode with laughter. She had never been to Starbucks before so this was a big moment but she loved it! We sat there drinking our Starbucks while taking ugly pictures of each other and looking at what we had bought (not that much). We then continued shopping and went to New Look and a phone case shop, the aimless walking continued and we then decided that it was time to go home and looked for train times, a 20 minute wait! So we went to WH Smith and looked about and then Boots, where my friend bought us popcorn. Can we please note how most of our money was spent on food!

We then caught the train and stuffed our faces with the popcorn. When we got back we said our goodbyes and that is my friend on holiday for a week, enjoy your travels Pocahontas!

Lauren

My Back To School Series: What's in My School Bag

Hey,
My bag featured in my first previous post but this is MY BAG!

This is like my mini home from home from 8am-4pm, Monday - Friday. So of course it is organised...

The mouth of my foxy bag
The pencil case poking out!
My pencil case and everything in it
My Casio Calculator
First is my mouth pouch with my pencil case and calculator. This is great as I often need these things quickly so they can be grabbed easily.

Next is the inside, which is split into different sections. I have the front area and and the folder area.
In the front I keep my phone and my purse.

My phone with the bright green cassette case
My Accessorize purse
In the front I keep my phone and my purse.

I also carry a spare bag with me as a girl I know had her school bag break on the way to school - on the first day of school! (I lost the picture!).

I also bring water as I need to keep hydrated!

I carry my lunch in this box (which I mentioned in my last post).

As I live in Scotland I HAVE to bring an umbrella.

The main thing I wanted to talk about was my emergency kit! This is so important and it does vary from summer to winter but this is it right now.

On you go and have a little snoop...

I always use my BabyLips as I don't like wearing makeup to school and this brightens my face up but it also moisturises my lips.

Next I have hand sanitiser - do I even have to explain this - school is... eww!

So I also have tissues because illness spreads quickly at school.

Next I carry plaster because I always seem to have to give these out.

So one of the weirder things I carry is a cereal bar in case someone faints on me (you know who you are) or if I get a bit nibbley and I have no food other than this. (Sorry about the bad photo).

So I also carry Paracetamol with me because, as I said earlier, illness spreads like wildfire in school.

One of my newest "members" of my emergency kit is to cover those stress break outs we get at school.

And of course I have to have my mini hairbrush and mirror set which is a lifesaver! I also have a mini bag of hair stuff and this means all the hair grips and hair bobbles are together.

Next up is my folder area and this is more boring. This is an area with 2 folders, 1 for jotters and 1 for my diary, notebook and letters from the school.

In the last pocket I have my earphones and mints.

So that is my bag for 2014, hope you enjoy having a little nosey.

Love,
Lauren.

And don't forget to follow me on tumblr.

Update Tuesday

Hey,

I like to think that this is just me writing to my future self, so that when I look back I can cringe at young me and laugh at the fact that I wore dungarees and crop tops. Maybe then I'll have a young family to laugh with, or maybe it'll just be me and my cats looking at me and wishing I was young again.

So I started this blog a while back but I think that I should have a fresh start, however I won't delete any old cringe posts but I 'll try to make them private.

This is my update to say that it'll just be me who blogs on here as my friend who I started this with decided it wasn't for her - but she was the better writer out of us two! This has caused me to change my blog name and also my domain - but I've not chosen the name yet!

I decided that I should help old me get a better idea of who I am right now and to do this I thought I would do a post dedicated to introducing me!

I saw this post on another blog and I decided it would be a good idea:

  1. Do you have a middle name? Yes but it is embarrassing (thanks mum and dad!).
  2. What was/is your favourite subject in school? History or business are probably my favourites but I enjoy all of the subjects I am taking this year.
  3. What's your favourite drink? I normally just drink water but I love herbal teas and lemonade, weird variety.
  4. Favourite song at the moment? I am loving Ed Sheeran's "X" album but my favourite song write now is "Indian Summer" by Stereophonics as it feels so Autumnal.
  5. What would you name your children? I have never been one of those people who has decided the name of my children. (I don't think I'll ever find a man anyway!).
  6. Do you participate in any sports? I have never really been a sporty person because I hate when it gets too competitive. I remember a few years ago in PE my teacher was trying to get us to do some violent shot in badminton that needed a quick, powerful hit, my teacher said that I should get my anger out by hitting it really hard. After 10 minutes of gentle shots she realised that I had no anger and I stood there in the middle of the class utterly embarrassed with all of my friends watching. Yeah... Other than when I'm required to do sport, I run and am training for a 5K but I also do a little hockey.
  7. Favourite Book? It's like asking a mother to choose there favourite child, but if I had to choose it would be "The Da Vinvi Code" by Dan Brown, I'm not into violent or crime novels but this one is different!
  8. Favourite Colour? My favourite colour changes depending on the season (that sounds weird!) but right now it is purple, it is summery but with orange it is perfect for Autumn.
  9. Favourite Animal? I recently got a dog but I also have a cat and a fish, I sound like I live in a Pet Shop, but I don't have a favourite animal! When I was younger I loved dolphins, I mean LOVED!
  10. Favourite Perfume? I love Daisy by Marc Jacobs but I wear body sprays more, for example the Hollister Body Sprays.
  11. Favourite Holiday? I love when me and my family go to a Villa in France and just become locals for the holiday but I also enjoy going to big cities. My favourite city is probably Paris but I want to go to Italy and America! I just love soaking in the culture.
  12. Have you graduated High School? No, I am still in high school.
  13. Have you been out of the country? Yeah, I've been to France, Spain, Belgium, England, Wales, Monaco, Dubai (United Arab Emirates) and Australia. I love travelling so I think I'll take a gap year.
  14. Do you speak any other languages? I obviously speak English but I also speak French and actually just got an A in the class!
  15. Do you have any siblings? I'm the middle child and I have 2 sisters.
  16. What's your favourite store? I don't have a favourite store but I get a lot of my clothes from H&M, Hollister, Top Shop and Forever 21.
  17. Favourite Restaurant? I think I have an addiction to Nando's, it is sooo good. I also like Italian, so I really just like any Italian restaurant. Other than that I like a small French restaurant near me.
  18. Did/do you like school? Yeah, I like school. It is one of those places that so many people hate and I understand why, all the drama! I think the reason I like school is because my mum taught me from such a young age that school is for learning!
  19. Favourite YouTubers? I like watching YouTube too much so I have a lot of favourites: DanIsNotOnFirre, Emma Blackery, Carrie Hope Fletcher, StilaBabe09, Motoki Maxted, SprinkleOfGlitter.
  20. Favourite Movie? Taken, I don't know why but I love it! Other than that I love comedies.
  21. Favourite TV Show? How I Met Your Mother *wipes away tear* and Dr Who (Peter Capaldi, YAY!).
  22. PC or Mac? PC because I'm poor!
  23. What phone do you have? I have the Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini and I love it!
  24. How tall are you? I'm 5'4"!
  25. What do you order at Starbucks? I don't go to Starbucks that much but during winter I order the Hazelnut or Caramel Hot Chocolate but during summer I love the Raspberry and Blackcurrent Blended Juice Drink and the Orange Refresha.
  26. One thing in your closet you cannot live without? I seem to always be cold so I love cardigans - even during summer! Other than cardigans I always wear skinny jeans and skater skirts.
  27. What's one thing most people probably don't know about you? I only tell people who are close to me but it isn't really a secret - I'm partially deaf (or was) and it has really affected my life but still so few people know about it.
  28. Name one thing you want to do befre you die. I want to have travelled the world - obviously not everywhere but everywhere I want to go! My Great-Aunt travelled a lot (and still does) which means she has so many great stories to tell but she is also so educated on every country she's visited! Other than that I would like to have a family because I think that bringing life into the world is one of the most wonderful things anyone can do.
  29. What food can you not live without? Other than the obvious chocolate, ice cream, pizza and chips I love pesto pasta and a caesar salad.
  30. What quote do you live by? I think that Mahatma Ghandi is an inspiration and I love his quotes, "An eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind" and "Be the change that you wish to see in the world".
  31. What's your most listened to song on iTunes? I don't actually listen to my music on iTunes because I've got a Samsung phone!
  32. What kind of style would you define yourself as having? I don't think I have one specific style as I like to change mine around, so sometimes it will be girly and other days it will be a lot of a darker look.
  33. Favourite number? Probably 10.
  34. Two Hobbies? Blogging (does that count?) and running.
  35. Two pet peeves. I hate to see people spreading bacteria, so when someone sneezes and doesn't do anything about it or when people leave the toilet with there hands not washed I get so annoyed! I also hate when people bite there nails!
  36. Guilty Pleasures? Please don't tell anyone this but I play the Kim Kardashian game! I also love food...
I hope you now know more about me and I've decided that I'll do a post each week and if I lack behind I'll try to catch up.

Love,
Lauren. x

My Back to School Series: Preparing for a new year

Hi, and this is my Back to School Collection.

As a girl who hates going back to school after summer I can promise you that this collection of posts should help you be as prepared and organised for school as possible(if that is possible!).

So I have just over 2 weeks before going back to school and summer is running out. So what I've done is written down a list of everything that I want to do during these last weeks. These include:

  • Going to the beach
  • Going to a farm and berry picking
  • Ordering a Starbucks using a fake name
  • Going swimming
  • Have a picnic in the park
  • Bake
  • Go shopping
So I now know how to organise my next 3 weeks and I don't go back to school feeling like I did nothing.

Next thing I do is ensure that I have all of my supplies (stationary) for going back to school and I think that I'll do a post on this.

I also make sure I'm not too nervous about going back to school as 7 weeks away for school can make the place seem scary (even though it's not really scared). What I do is I make sure that I do stuff with my friends leading up to going back so I have nothing to be afraid of. I will do anything from getting a coffee to going to the beach.

I will also make sure that I have all of my school uniform (in Scotland most schools have a uniform) and I go shopping to buy everything from skater skirts to my rucksack!

I also make a list of lunch ideas for the year so that my parents can add the food I need to the weekly food shopping list and it makes sure that everyday at school I have something filling and tasty for lunch.

I also organise my room and my study so that I have plenty of area to work on my homework and studying. This also means creating a calm area to work which means however stressed I am the area should still help me stay relaxed.

I know that as a teenager we all stay up to stupid o'clock doing whatever rubbish (reading, watching YouTube, tweeting etc) and during the summer holidays I seem to be staying up later and later so when I want to get into a better routine for sleeping I make sure that I set a "bed time" and an hour before this I turn off my laptop, iPad and the WiFi on my phone. This is good because the "blue" light in these can keep you up at night and disrupt your sleep (Google it!). I also make sure that I fall asleep before 11 o'clock and that I sleep for 7-9 hours a night. Remember not to get too much sleep and not too little, but don't stress about sleep! Another tip is not to drink coffee at night as it will also disrupt your sleep, maybe try a herbal tea like Chamomile Tea. I use all of these tips to help ensure that I have plenty of sleep and I start this routine a week before schools so that I have time to get into the swing of it.

Another tip is to ensure that you have plenty of plans for after the holiday as it helps keep me motivated at school (but make sure you still do your school work). I have already organised to go to a concert, a party and a holiday!

Remember that school is for learning (but also make friends!).

Love,
Lauren

Healthy Living

Hi. Okay so you probably don't remember me. I am the girl who use to blog here. A long time a go!I've been busy lately with exams but it's only a month until my summer holiday and all my exams are over!

I've been wanting to do this "series" for a while. To begin with I just want to talk about a Healthy Lifestyle and what that means.

As we all know the media often likes to tell us how women should look and at this time of year every girl is seeing tonnes of pictures of girls in tiny bikinis with flat stomachs but so many people can't achieve this. That is why I think you should be confident in your own body!
However I don't agree with people eating junk food all the time and doing little or no exercise as this isn't good for your health! If you stuff your face then it is obvious that your body won't thank you. Please, please don't hate me for saying that!

So what is a healthy lifestyle?
In my opinion (Sorry, what?! Yes the girl who loves food is telling you about eating healthy...) a healthy diet is getting a wide variety of foods ensuring that you are getting the nutrients that you need. I would also like to say that a balanced diet is key!

I would advise you to look into things that people tell you. Just because everyone tells you that doing exercise in the morning is a good idea doesn't mean it is (actually it has been scientifically proven that it's best to do exercise between 3pm and 6pm).

While looking into things I would get a wide collection of cookbooks if you can, these can be from the library. If you can't do that then the internet can be your huge cookbook! I got a vegan cookbook as it explained why some foods are great for you and others are dreadful. I haven't given up meat but the book showed me that there is a wide variety of foods that can give me what meat does.

I also need to mention exercise, honestly do whatever makes you happy and healthy. If you can and want to then join sport clubs or a gym but if that doesn't make you happy then just go for jogs, take up pilates in your own living room (DVDs and YouTube) or take walks in the countryside. There is such a large wide choice of activities that you can do.

The key to having a healthy lifestyle is making sure you eat and exercise but don't obsess over it. At the end of the day your dress size and weight is just a number but what really matters is the number of times you've smiled and the number of people you've made smile!

Love,
Lauren.
